Banks and financial institutions are feeling the pressure in 2017’s post-Trump landscape, facing the threat of ever-increasing fines. Recent developments in relation to the situation in Ukraine have also seen the US tightening the grip on Russia, applying restrictions to specific financial instruments, rather than blanket country sanctions.
Drawing from his experience working as part of the Criminal Division’s Money Laundering and Asset Recovery Section, (which collected the largest monetary penalties assessed in criminal cases involving US sanctions violations), Jack de Kluiver will provide key insights into the lessons that can be learned from these sanctions, as well as what can be expected from the Trump administration in the future.
