We are looking for a Finance Assistant to join our supportive team and help ensure our financial operations run smoothly and efficiently.

Role Overview

The Finance Assistant will play a key role in supporting the finance function of the Firm,
ensuring accurate and timely processing of financial transactions, compliance with legal
and regulatory requirements, and clear communication between departments. This is a
varied role, requiring both accuracy and initiative.

Key Responsibilities

  • Daily capture of supplier invoices, staff expenses and disbursement, and
    reconciliation of cash payments / receipts, ensuring all invoices are correctly
    addressed and appropriately approved by budget holder across the Group’s offices.
  • Preparation of weekly / monthly cash & nominal ledger reconciliations and controls,
    accruals and prepayments schedules.
  • Preparation & distribution of customer statements to Firm clients & payment
    remittance to Firm suppliers.
  • Set up of monthly payment batches, standing order and direct debits.
  • Assist with production of the billing cycles, and the supporting operational
    procedure with the aim of helping to reduce the firm’s lockup.
  • Assist in the preparation of Annual Financial Statements and audit supporting
    information and schedules for the group and its subsidiaries.
  • Act as a point of contact for external auditors.
  • Assist Finance Team with annual budgeting process and other tasks as assigned
    by the Finance Team.
  • Support the Finance Team with the delivery of quarterly forecast and annual budget
    data.
  • Support the Finance Team with the preparation of board papers for the executive
    management.
  • Work with the Finance Team to help maintain and enhance the firm’s financial
    control framework and policies across the Group’s offices.
  • Assist in implementing any new accounting and financial procedures as may be
    required by changes to the legal and regulatory environment.
  • Ensure that appropriate tracking and support is in place to measure targets.
  • Maintain and update procedural documentation accordingly.

Skills & Experience

  • Previous finance/accounts experience.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good organisational and time-management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Clear communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Inquisitive and analytical mind with a real interest in understanding the overall
    business.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to develop close working relationships with
    stakeholders.

Desirable

  • Experience with legal practice management software.
  • Accounting qualification or working towards one.
