Nia Statham Speaking at FinTech On The Seas

Nia Statham will be speaking at Fintech On The Seas, at the dedicated Regulatory and Policy Summit Track, sponsored by Baker & Partners. She will be attending alongside Shaun Reardon-John and Eltin Ryle from our BVI office.

The Regulatory & Policy Summit, co-sponsored by VerifyVasp, Inca Digital and Walkers, will convene regulators and policy leaders from across the Americas and Caribbean, to discuss critical developments shaping the digital asset ecosystem, including topics such as cross-border Travel Rule compliance, asset recovery, blockchain investigations and other key regulatory initiatives.

Nia will be moderating the post-lunch Roundtable, which is intended to be as interactive as possible. The Roundtable, entitled ‘Public-Private Supervision 2.0: Who Does What in the Next Decade?’, will explore realistic models of shared supervision. This is where smaller and offshore jurisdictions leverage private-sector infrastructure, while preserving their sovereign decision-making and accountability.

Date: 22 June
Time: 13:00 – 14:00
Location: Necker Island, British Virgin Islands

Key issues set to be examined include:

  • Governmental inability to supervise crypto markets and the inevitability outsourcing.
  • Emerging models of public-private partnerships (PPPs) in digital asset supervision.
  • Managing conflicts of interest, vendor dependencies and data-sovereignty concerns in PPPs.
  • Regulatory Tech infrastructure as the new norm for licensing, supervision and cross-border info sharing.

Nia is a regular speaker on the topic of cross-border digital asset recovery, having shared her knowledge and expertise with audiences of 1000+ and facilitated smaller deep dives and workshops for specialist professionals.

Nia’s engagement as a speaker cements her position as a thought leader in this emerging practice area. Earlier this year, she spoke on the topic of Crypto Litigation Funding at C5’s AI & Crypto Fraud Forum in London, and she recently contributed the British Virgin Island chapter to The Global Legal Post’s Cryptoasset comparative guide.

If you are attending and would like to connect, please reach out to Nia.
