Experience

Matthew was sworn in as an Advocate of the Royal Court in 2013 and brings with him a wealth of litigation experience.

Matthew has a background in public law, and has appeared before Jersey’s courts and tribunals in a range of civil cases involving judicial review, human rights matters, disciplinary proceedings, and employment disputes.

Matthew was appointed to the role of Crown Advocate in 2015, following which he has prosecuted many of Jersey’s most high-profile criminal cases concerning homicide, sexual offences, drug trafficking, money laundering and fraud. Matthew continues to be instructed on behalf of His Majesty’s Attorney General in respect of criminal matters. Matthew joined the Legal Team at Baker & Partners as Counsel in September 2023, and will be involved in all aspects of civil litigation.
