Shula Sbarro joined Baker & Partners (Cayman) Limited as a Senior Associate in July 2023.
Shula joined Baker & Partners, having worked in Cayman for another top 10 international law firm. She is a Senior Associate at Baker & Partners (Cayman) Limited with 10 years’ experience in litigation. Shula obtained a first-class degree in LLB (Hons) Law, following which she obtained the Sir Thomas Moore bursary (which gave admittance to the Lord Denning Society at Lincoln’s Inn). Shula then completed the Bar Vocational Course at Nottingham and was called to the Bar of England & Wales, Lincoln’s Inn, London, after completing the BVC (awarded ‘very competent’).
She cross-qualified as a Solicitor while completing her LLM in International Commercial Law at the University of Birmingham. She has worked in the UK as well as other reputable offshore law firms. While in the Cayman Islands, Shula has acted in some of the most significant insolvency and litigation matters including Platinum Partners, Performance Insurance Company SPC, XiO, Asia Renewable Energy. She is currently acting in one of the biggest worldwide fraud cases 1MDB (global asset recovery of over US$7.6 billion stolen from the sovereign wealth fund). Her primary focus is insolvency, fraud, restructuring, asset recovery, and general commercial litigation. She is a member of IWIRC, INSOL International and RISA.
