Olena Golovtchouk is a Senior Associate at Baker & Partners, with a particular focus on cross-border litigation, enforcement, asset recovery and international arbitration. Olena is admitted in England and Wales and the BVI.
Olena joined Baker & Partners in January 2026, having previously worked for 13 years at Osborne Clarke and over 5 years at Gateley Legal in London. Olena started her career as an immigration and human rights lawyer. She specialises in complex high value multi-jurisdictional commercial disputes (involving court proceedings and arbitration, as well as alternative dispute resolution) relating to banking and finance, natural resources, joint venture disputes, fraud and global asset tracing.
Advising on complex international disputes and regulatory matters, Olena has experience acting in cross-border proceedings relating to the laws of Switzerland, Cyprus, Ukraine, Russia, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan and other Former Soviet Union (the FSU) jurisdictions.
Whilst working at Osborne Clarke, Olena handled and advised on international arbitration cases (commercial and investment arbitration cases) under all the major rules, including those of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC), the German Arbitration Institute (DIS), the United Nation Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) and the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICISD)).
Olena is fluent in Ukrainian and Russian languages and has knowledge of local business, their culture and personal connections.
Qualifications
Olena studied Languages (Ukrainian language and Literature and English Language) in Ukraine before completing the Graduate Diploma in Law and Legal Practice Course at BPP Law School.
Recent matters
- Olena worked on several cases for an overseas financial authority agency responsible for the management of failed banks, in the proceedings seeking the recovery of assets against the former UBO and in a claim arising out of the liquidation of the foreign bank for c.£65 million.
- Advised an international financial institution on recognition of foreign insolvencies in England and Wales and worked with the US lawyers on recognition of foreign insolvency proceedings in the United States.
- Advised an investor on bringing an anti-suit injunction for a breach of the arbitration clause in the High Court of England and Wales.
- Advised international companies on enforcement of post-judgment injunction in the Baltic States and Cyprus granted inter-parties injunction in England and Wales.
